We have a 2001 Chevy Silverado 3500 tow truck here at work and the odometer hasn't worked in years. We've been bored here in the shop and decided to take the dash apart and thanks to your information we were able to find the problem (three 100ohm resistors side by side under the screen, two overheated and melted their solder joints) now we can see how many miles this old thing has again and get it back on regular services. Over 320,000miles and still going strong.

The Job worked like a charm. Thanks for your information. 1999 2wd Ext sierra 280K on the odometer just keeping it a little longer. A little tricky soldering the back side. Its great to be handy. Cheers, Chris

Subject: 99 silverado odometer fix

This was the same problem my 99 silverado had. I would like to thank you for all the info you took time to post on your web sight. I had a mechanic quote me a price of $600 to fix. I really appreciate what you have done. Again thanks a lot Chris you saved me a lot of cash.

After I toyed with the soldering iron long enough to be comfortable with trying this (and burned a couple fingers!) it worked like a charm.same pin had the bad solder. Thanks a lot for posting this!
